I'm sure it was not your fault though, the stress of reading this thread probably caused you to become temporarily unhinged.

I'm reminded of a headline last year in the Oregonian (the Portland newspaper). "3 year old shot, a terrible tragedy." When the facts came out, the 3 year old was shot by the 10 year old brother, who had to go to a friends house to get bullets for the hunting rifle he used. There was no mention of parents, neighbor parents, the fact that the 10 year old was not in school, or anything other than how terrible it was. The next day there was a follow-up that did manage to mention the fact that the parents were not home, the neighbor parents were not home, there was zero supervision, the gun and the bullets were kept unlocked, etc.

This was, of course, front page news for several days.

After a few days the paper did run an editoral mentioning parental responsibilty, and publish a dozen or so letters to the editor slaming the paper for it's lack of responsible reporting. They still called it a terrible tragedy, which of course it was ... on the part of the parents.

Damn ... don't get me started on personal responsibility and the problem of lack of consequences. That causes buffer overruns.
