The later developments have skewed the thing badly off base, though. Agricultural studies had lots of this. "Ear protection must be worn when feeding the pigs." ... Here student elections are considered part of the social studies curriculum. Campaigns too. Complete with actual politics. Compulsory to some extent. That's part of the govt tracking school performance. We also have tests standardized by the employers' unions, come to think of it. And the farmers and foresters unions. A nose count does NOT make delivering the computing service complicated. AAMOF, it makes it less complicated because... Shouldn't these get some consideration in the Social Studies curriculum anyway? Along with the rest of the justice system, tax and employment law, government structure, international politics, the works ... Well, some of the stuff looks bad by itself but not all. The rest is just stuff that can be botched up really bad in the implementation stage, mainly by giving too much resources for it. Oh, and vocational schools (where a lot of this would be happening) aren't actually clbuttified as "academic" to begin with. IIRC most of the listed stuff can be considered to be "available" in the education system here, in the category of optional studies, but the amounts may be rather slight, or the lessons may happen, say, 8 to 9 PM ...
