Consider the psychology of a person who is trying to break security. They will approach it using the same sets of tests that a quality control engineer would use with the exception that this tester will not report the bug nor fix it but use it.

I have seen people more adept at computing than you buttume that they don't have to do such trivial tests because somebody will already have done it. They think, "It's so easy, somebody else will have already done this."

This is basic human nature and I was appalled at this atbreastude when Bryon displayed it across my TTY.

And what will be the first thing an intelligent adversary tries? They will try the "easiest" stuff first.

If you're going to have a bit war with these people, you had better figure out how they think.

And I gave you the first three sets of data any malicious user will use.

I'm not talking about human beings. I'm talking about the serious security breaches. You will have never heard about them because we don't talk about them. They are never documented in anything other than confidenial papers (governments are even more restrictive).

If you don't have a network where you yak off-line with people who do the actual computing-service-delivery business, you will never hear about the ones that were so dangerous it could have end lots of people or disrupted national economies or something equally as dangerous.

We know. Why do you think we're trying to teach you? Your thinking processes are missing so many obvious aspects of delivering computing services that we're trying to help before a mess that can't be fixed is broadcast.

I have a pretty good idea what you know. I've got a better idea of what you don't know.

People from a.f.c. also have an accurate idea of what you don't know and they've been trying to tell you.
