Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1457I foresee the political interference. It is a natural occurence when a discipline doesn't correct itself. Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1458 One of my favorite westerns, too. I even had a Palladin toy gun and holster, 1960 vintage. There's an Internet radio station that still plays Johnny Western's unforgettable theme song. I seem to... On the contrary, this is how the problem will get solved. Now that people don't have their thumbs duct-taped to opposite walls, they, once again, will have the exposure to all the learning they want to do w.r.t. how a computer works and how to make it do one's bidding. Not only that but they have the unique opportunity of having an unending list of users who are willing to play with their code. Kids are not mannerly and will tell you how well you did. In a decade when those kids start doing real work they will not accept "We know what's good for you, just trust us" which is the marketing line of misoft but not their legal line on the warranty.
I see this as the dotcom hangover. Engineering had a similar glut and hangover when a real man in the moon happened. I didn't say a CS had no value. I have said that it didn't teach anything about how the production work was done out in the world. My goal is to make sure the world does move on. I see stultification. I see no innovation. Worse, I see ignorance and pride in that ignorance. I will poke any balloon that swells up with that kind of gas. I always have and I always will. Why do you think DEC was so successful before it became a balloon? Just about everybody poked. :-) Nobody was allowed to have gas for very long. BAH Subtract a hundred and four for e-mail.
