Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1524David Wagner GIVE AN ANECDOTE. That's a bit more in the political arena. The "bit gods" that I have met (and I'll expand that so I can include myself as a technical "goto guy" in some areas) would tend to explain things to other bit-gods, but not be particularly forthcoming to individuals who don't implicitly understand what they're nattering on about. This is not social snobbery, but along the lines of "those who can, do; those who can't, teach; those who can't teach, criticize" (there's a "those who can't criticize..." too but I can't recall what it is)
Umm, unless you're a "bit god" yourself, how are you qualified to argue with one ? I'd think you'd have to be in the ballpark to begin with ("bit demigod" or something). Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1526 Tech guys are like that. It was originally, "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." George Bernard Shaw said it. I'd like to think he was joking... I'll refer you to 2 occasions on which I asked simple questions of you: a) you said "oh, my opinion is strewn out among all the posts in this thread" b) on occasion where I stated I don't do C you proceeded to answer my post with a page's worth of C programming. I think you may have misread-misunderstood a post or two. I'm not sure what she goes on about is even teachable in a 4-5 year program. But I think DJB's sample course doesn't belong in a university CS specialist program.
