I must admit, it's a challenge writing software that runs reliably on an unreliable platform. As for bashing, I try to keep it constructive, while making people aware that alternatives exist. I applaud the ongoing efforts to develop Linux apps that can replace mainstream Windows apps - the goal is to reach the point where we can universally use a paraphrase of a quip I read in ComputerLib:

Microsoft is not a necessary evil. Microsoft is not necessary.

Well, yes, but it's making headway - slowly but surely.

I tell people it's more correctly pronounced "Look out!" For people who must run Windows, I set them up with The Bat for e-mail and Netscape for web surfing.
