Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1615
Charlie Gibbs Well, no, that's not all he's saying. As I read the posts, he offered and defended these tests as non-trivial examples of...

If you could set aside the condescending atbreastude which you seem to enjoy so much, you might see that nobody is saying the naive things you're attributing to them. All Brian is saying is that all-zeros and all-ones input are some examples of input that might make a program malfunction. Contrary to what you implied above, nobody here is suggesting that these are the conclusive tests. We're suggesting some possible tests that might cause a program to fail. If someone feeds such a file to a program in the hope of causing it to fail, could you please tell me how this isn't an adversarial test? (We'll move on to the effectiveness of this particular adversarial test later; first tell us why you feel it isn't adversarial at all.)

We harbour no illusions that we have all the answers; indeed, this discussion is an informal search for some of them, while keeping in mind that their numbers might be almost limitless. If you in your omniscience can point out exactly why Brian's test is worthless, perhaps you can then go on to suggest a better test that will cover his cases and more. If not... well, I guess omniscience isn't all that easy to attain after all.
