Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1640Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1641 Chris Adams Great! Give me an account so I can do some testing. Maybe I'll even add tuned asm for that system. Does the Alpha's... I have an Alpha running Tru64 in my cube right now (along with several x86 boxes and an Opteron system, but only one x86 box and the Alpha are running all the time). I also have a diskless VAX X terminal, but I haven't got it running (anyone know where I can get a mouse for a VXT 2000?). If Y2K taught anyone anything, it was that you don't know how long someone will be using the same code. 25 years ago, the common consumer computers were 8 bit; 20 years ago they moved to 16 bit, and 15 years ago they moved the 32 bit. Now they are moving to 64 bit. Today's 64 bit computer operates like a 32 bit computer on steroids (still using 32 bit ints but using larger address space), but it is quite reasonable to expect that eventually things will switch to 64 bit ints and 128 bit longs (and then maybe 128 bit computers). Thou shalt have no other gods before the ANSI C standard 1643 Douglas A. Gwyn I couldn't find this file in my install of MSVC++ (which affects my Intel C++, of course... Another problem with making buttumptions is that people develop habits without realizing it. Then when they are presented with something different, they have problems because they are following habits based on now incorrect buttumptions. Just because you are writing something for Windows, Mac, or Unix today doesn't mean you won't have a job working on an automotive embedded controller next year. If you develop good coding habits, it will be much easier to adapt to different environments. -- Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
