Now if my point was, in fact, correct, then we would see others continue to claim that the police are unarmed. So how exactly do the others address this point? Do they agree withBAH that nobody has the naive notion that the police are unarmed or do they confirm my premise that this notion is still widespread?

Ordinary coppers, AFAIK, are still not armed.
