Nope. The man end was Laurie's fiance and now I can't remember her last name. She was the TOPS-10 writer and one of my favorite people. It was her doing that started the -10 group's habit of using a Token Dummy who would take a full set of the distribution tapes, before we signed off on a monitor release, and do a cold start installation. Laurie and I were the first Token Dummies. She wanted to make sure that her MIG would work and matched the tapes. (MIG=monitor installation guide). There were tons and tons of problems.

We even caused a crash by making a wrong choice of controllers when answering MONGEN's questions. We put a disk and a magtape controller on 0. KERBOOM! TW came by after looking at the crash dump and asked me what on earth possessed us to put a magtape on the same controller. I shrugged and replied that we didn't know we couldn't. Code was put in to slap our fingers if we ever tried again.

He was a tad huffy but it improved the product so that Real Dummies couldn't mess it up :-))).

And now I'm peeed off at me because I cannot remember her last name. When she died, Jim and I bought an azalea bush and planted it in the yard in her memory.
