That would have nothing to do with mainframes but everything to do with what is under the web bunnies. Users need a system that doesn't fight with them. If the Unix biz starts working for users of systems rather than the mechanics of systems, it will become the de facto OS. There is still a gap between user and owner, who happen to be the same person. Sigh! Let me try to explain again. Unix is not going to be an off-the-shelf item. So, for a luser to run and use the OS, there is going to have to be a non-expert methodology for this luser to want to spend the time installing and learning how to use it. So far there is nothing other than the beginnings of gossip that it's a good thing. It hasn't become the fad such as what got cell phones and PDAs started.
