Which union? I've never heard of cows, farmer owners or milking machines being unionized.

These weren't supposed to keep light out. They were white plastic, just as regular milk jugs are. but oddly shaped, in a design inspired by whoever invented the jerry can. It had straight sides, a flat top. Milk trucks max out on weight before they max out on cubic space, so it must be intended to save space in the coolers.

Lactase, I imagine. Present in raw milk, not present in pasteurized.

Actually, I started drinking raw milk from Young's in Yellow Springs when I lived in Ohio, because it wasn't homogenized. I didn't care anything about pasteurization, but I was told that the larger size fat molecules were preferable if you had diabetes.

Whenever I get a new doctor, he takes a look at my studly santaesque physique, and asks me if I'm on a statin. I ask him how he will know that the statin is working. He says he'd like my cholesterol to be below 200, or at least down to 230. I hand back the prescription, tell him that it works so well that it's already reduced my cholesterol to 165. Before I started drinking raw milk, it was in the mid-200s, but I can't say that raw milk has made the difference by itself; I've made some other changes in my diet, such as eliminating trans fats by switching to butter, switching to potato chips fried in lard, etc. Or maybe it was something else entirely. I note the coincidence, but don't make any claims.

Milk shoots up my blood sugar as quickly as the sugar in any other juice, but it doesn't *stay* elevated as long as if I drink orange juice, tomato juice, apple juice, etc. Different sugar, I suppose.
