I'm finally reading about this. I'm currently in the war years 1914-1920ish. I am not understanding most of it. So far, this wasn't an administration blunder but a badly written law that allowed people trained as bankers to make economic decisions. One of the items I don't understand was this intersest rate stuff. It sounds to me like Paul was borrowing from Peter to pay Peter; and Paul was paid by all banks and the government to provide the service. Now, I know this has to be wrong because it makes absolutely no sense and even a two-year-old would know that this doesn't work.

Is your house set up so you don't have to worry about freezing pipes? My house is set up based on the buttumption that heat will always be pentiful on demand and it's single-point failure is the power grid.

Where is the center of heat. Bottom floor? How do you spread the heat? By force or by convection (is that the correct term?).

In addition, somebody wrote about banking the furnace each night and starting it up each morning. I still have the imagery of some kid hopping from bed to furnace on chairs. I've been wondering if the last chore at night was aligning chairs.

I do not know what banking is. Dad talks about banking but I realized that, even though this action was a requirement, I had no idea what the actual work was.
