Unfortuanely, Bush will be out of office before that time. The problem is an impeachment has little chance of succeeding in this environment, bringing it up will show dissent in our country and encourage the insurgants to escalate violence which will in turn escalate the dissent.

This along with a series of events has led to the gradual escalation of violence. It's a vicious cycle that will just get worse for the troops and worse for Iraq if it is allowed to continue.

The shackles come in the form of political pressures. The troops are afraid of defending themselves because they might shoot an someone they think is going to harm them and end up getting court-marshalled. They are afraid of following orders because those orders might land them in jail. A slight hesitation could mean the difference between life and rest out there.

They are prevented from hitting targets they should be hitting hard for fear of hurting someones feelings. The culture there is different, they respect strength. The insurgents will interpret this kind of restraint as a weakness.

Saddam didn't maintain control by being touchy-feely. He was seen as a fierce and strong leader and less people died. We cannot win Iraq's freedom with the current policy.
