Beth

We are not sufficiently brutal on the insurgents. This is the only way to treat a culture that respects-fears strength and laughs at any sign of 'compliance' which may be viewed as cowardice, hesitation or weakness.

1) Both Bush Presidents worked with Nixon during the Watergate scandals, 2) GWB was NOT elected by popular vote during the first election, 3) Jeb through out 100,000 African votes during his...

I did not call it "praise," I simply stated the truth of it. Saddam was viewed as a strong leader. If he was viewed as anything other than a strong leader, he would have been deposed by elements of his own party and replaced by someone stronger.

To get information. I don't agree with it, but it's an age-old concept and it works. Besides that, your use of "torture" is out of place. Saddam did *real* torture, which is hurting people just for the heck of it or as punishment. The US used interrogation tactics that *any* nation would use to coerce information for potentially dangerous people.

Such inflammatory words you use; "torture", "liquidate" as if we are dealing with innocent Iraqis here. We should continue to interrogate dangerous people and destroy any and all elements of the insurgency. Don't forget, these are dissident Iraqis and foreigners who are liquidateing Iraqi citizens on a daily basis and saw off people's heads while they are alive. Have you chosen to ignore this little tid-bit? You want us to play nice with these liquidates and call *us* the liquidateers and torturers?

Which have been of our own collective making. We keep kissing up to corrupt tyrants just as the lovable Homer...

Sorry I don't buy it. When we hang people upsidedown and carve initials into their abdomens, then call us torturers.

Again with that "admire" thing. I simply stated the truth of it, that's data not admiration. Ahh trials. How is the trial for Milosevic going? Has he been convicted of anything yet? After how many years?

You keep throwing these words around. There is no such thing as good or evil. There are only actions, concequences and how people perceive them.

Action: right or wrong, we Invaded Iraq. Concequence: Insrugency, dozens are dying on a daily basis Perception: something has to be done to put a stop to this *NOW*

Observation: Current tactics aren't working, in fact, the insurgency is escalating. Action: get tougher on the insurgency and supporting elements. Concequence:... remains to be seen. Probably never will be because this administration is too incompetent.

Whoa there. Now we are talking about genocide! Are you nuts? Who's talking about exterminating the Iraqi people?

bah "No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th...

How can going hard after the insurgency be considered "genocide?" We "surrender" if we don't get tough! That's how every terrist with a plant will perceive America.

Sigh. You're loosing focus Beth. You are just trying to raise an appeal to emotion by just throwing around words and phrases that are designed to inflame rather than cover anything to do with the truth of the discussion.

Again, no such thing as evil. Invading Iraq was a mistake. Too bad. Now we have several actions we may take:

1. stay and continue as we are. -result: Many lives lost, billions more spent, eventually we'll have to pull out anyway. Iraq goes into civil war and many more lives lost.

2. pull out now. -result: billions saved. Iraq goes into civil war and many lives lost.

3. get tough on the insurgents. -result: unknown yet. I predict it will be much better than any of the 2 options above.

Not the use of insurgents Beth. I'm not talking about genocide or liquidate of innocent civilians here.

News flash: So did we. The American and British public was fully aware of all the bullpoo before the war yet we were unable or unwilling to do enough to stop it at the source. If this is the state of our society, don't blame the leaders. We elected them.

I really don't care about Bush one way or the other. Righ now, the priority is to save the lives of as many Iraqi and Coalition personell as possible. Persuing the impeachment will cost more lives, not spare them. Impeaching Bush will just put Cheany on the throne if successful. Cheany is the brains behind the whole demented operation so we win nothing.

Morality is a subjective concept and it has little to do with religion and much to do with civil law and the threat of punishment. What if the God a man worshipps encourages dishonesty and cruely? Then he can indeed claim to have God on his side.
