US Military Dead during Iraq War 980American Political Definitions....help Roger Blake Pardon the European idiot here...but what is the American definition of "liberal"? Note: Don't talk to me about Democrats or Republicans...or some... Hi, For those in the cross-posted newsgroup (AFC) who did not catch the post where the link was provided, here's a link to a bittorrent file (rather large, unfortunately, but it is three hour-long programmes at high quality) of a series of documentaries that the BBC were showing a while back... The Power of Nightmares - The Rise in the Politics of Fear (parts 1,2 and 3): ares%20-%20The%20Rise%20Of%20The%20Politics%20Of%20Fear%20(3-Part%20Miniseri It basically charts the history of the Neo-Conservative and Radical Islamist movements...how they were born from the ideologies of Leo Strauss and Sayed Kutb...through the Cold War and the fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan...up to the present day (well, present day at time of broadcast)... American Political Definitions....help! 983 Beth Well, the way I understand it, liberal used as a political label usually brings up the image of... As the Neo-Conservatives and their history are charted in the documentaries then you can fully expect that this will never be broadcast in America...luckily, the internet and bittorrent gets around that little problem... I don't, by the way, necessarily fully agree with the "conclusions" that are derived...but it charts the history, contains actual interviews with many involved...and isn't any Michael Moore "emotional propoganda" piece... Well worth watching...even if you completely disagree with it, then you'll probably still find it well worth watching...as it's well-made and presents an entirely different take on the "war on terrorism" from its historical perspective...from which the author of the documentary concludes that while there most certainly are actual persons and they do pose a serious threat, that the whole "war on terrorism" thing has been grossly exaggerated way beyond its actual reality for "political purpose"...like WMD, it's a "politically expedient" lie to keep this "threat" permanent and large... Why Was: US Military Dead during Iraq War Sevag Krikorian Mr. Krikorian suggests that the best course for America is to stay the course in Iraq, in a... Well, as I say, just providing the link as the cross-posted group (AFC) probably hasn't had the opportunity to see this...and goes some way to explaining my hostility to Bush and his Neo-Cons...because, in a sense, they are EQUALLY "person" but in a more political way...this in no way diminishes my hostility to persons... The point is that we're NOT talking an "either..or" here...they are BOTH demonstrating themselves to be "enemies of Liberty" in different ways...the Jihadists attack the American people physically...the Neo-Cons attack the American people psychologically...both with a purpose to "terrorise", in order to gain their political objectives... It's a toss up which is worse: A quick rest (Jihadists) or eternal slavery to a lie (Neo-Cons)...after all, you lose your own life (literally or metaphorically) either way... Beth :
