Early microcomputer esp i8008 software
hansp The Intel PL-M compiler that generates i8008 code is out there on the net. It used to be on the oak.oakland.edu ftp site in the CP-M directory, but while that...

I would never let a computer sit directly on the floor, carpeted or otherwise. You can get half-size pallets from most printers or medical supply houses (free), paint or stain them to suit the environment, and get your machines a half-foot up.

Right now, the computer next to my desk is sitting atop an old 16-port 10-base T switch, which measures about 14 by 19 inches. That's only four inches up, but it's off the floor. After I painted it to match the computer, it looked like it belonged there.

I also use green scrub pads as intake filters. They can be pulled out and replaced without opening the machine, and the impedance to air flow is negligible when they are clean.

We all have to get out the dust-buster (tm) from time to time, but my computer doesn't open easily, nor is it easily moved, so I put off the task until it's really necessary.

I have four hard-drives and six fans. It really was too noisy to keep on top of the desk, and it really did sound like a small vacuum - not the motor noise so much as the air flow. One plus though, it keeps this room warm on winter nights, so I must be saving energy.
