Yup. Here near the Jersey Shore in the summer and fall we lose power in thunderstorms and when any drunken college kid takes out a telephone pole along the highway.
The pair of $35.00 ups systems keeps the PC powered along with the cordless phones,the VOIP ATA, the two network switches and the cable modem.
I gave up with backups. The tapes were too expensive and slow.
I save all the stuff on multiple machines and hope I don't lose anything important. I don't do the financials on line and so the loss of a couple of emails and 20 years of collected source code from the net won't kill me... Although finding the SunOS4 Resolver+ code took a lot longer on google than I thought when I decided to reload those old Sparc2 clbutt boxes.
I wish I had more memory than the 64mb that fits in the boxes.
I'd love to see what I could do with that Clock doubled Sparc2 clbutt CPU with more memory and Solaris 7 instead of SunOS4. Perhaps NetBSD or OpenBSD would work...
