Wars and Allies was: The Fate of VM
... snip ...
Remember the context. France and Britain were exhausted from WWI, and had lost a very significant portion of their younger generation of men in it. Their primary interest was in avoiding war. It is unfortunate that the characteristics of Hitler and the National Socialists brought on Munich, and that the attempted war avoidance didn't work.
The US has seen nothing remotely approaching the carnage of WWI since the Civil War. Yet even when France and Britain faced the facts and declared war, the US stayed out, and even allowed various firms to buttist the German war effort for profit.
In a manner of speaking the US and Europe have exchanged roles since the inter-war period. Bush and the Republicans is not as rabid as Hitler and the Nazis were, and the UK and France are not as pacifist and isolationist as the US was.
You are much too young to remember any of this. I wasn't around for WWI, but can remember WWII quite clearly. Like the Civil War and WWII, the present conflicts affect civilians heavily in the war arenas. The world needs less arrogance and more empathy.
