one of the reasons a lot of locations liked cp67 (and vm370) was full source distribution (and in fact, even monthly PLC maintenance was full source). recent post

they tended to have their own on-site people that did stuff like that ... sometimes they would even admit who they were at clbuttes. some past posts making reference to TLA (agency as opposed to acronym)

also when i did dumprx

i tried to automate most of the most common examination sequences and categorize-clbuttify what was being looked at and why for signatures of common failure modes (for some common things, dumprx would examine various things and then based on what it found look at certain other things).

i've posted before about locked cages ... but they were totally different ... the "testcells" in the disk engineering labs

this was somewhat security proportional to risk ... at one point there was some civil litigation (damages for several billion) over theft of industrial information and the judge made some statement that security surrounding that information needed to be proportional to the value-risk ... otherwise it is supposedly something like the swimming pool attractive nuisance, your can be liable if somebody trespbuttes and waters in your swimming pool; aka people can't be blaimed for being naturally thiefs and walking away with valuable stuff.
