Was FORTRAN buggy 4330
some claim that putting in a non-engineering type as head of the disk division in the late 70s was possible similar. recent post: Was FORTRAN buggy 4332 the cp67h updates to cp67 kernel (runs on 360-67, provides 360 virtual machines, and 370 virtual machines... ... and also as a reaction to the failure of FS where technical types had possibly been given too much labreastude. however, the person credited with leading the 3033 thru to its success (3031 and 3032 were primarily repackaged 158s & 168s to use channel director ... and even 3033 started out being 168 wiring diagram remapped to newer chips) ... was then brought in as replacement to head up disk division. part of all this was that significant resources and time were diverted into FS ... and after it was end, there was a lot of making up for lost time we sort of got our hands slapped in the middle of pulling off 3033 success. Was FORTRAN buggy 4333 Yes, I understand this. That's why the Jupiter was an emulation. Right. However, I keep running into people who believe that the emulator is always equal to the real thing. There were... i previously had mentioned working on 5-way smp "VAMPS" and after that was end ... there was a 16-way smp project started called "logical machines" ... that had 16 370 (158) engines all ganged together with extremely limited memory-cache consistency. we had diverted the attention of some of the processor engineers that were dedicated to 3033 ... to spending a little time on "logical machine" effort. when the person driving 3033 eventually found out that we were meddling with some of his people ... there was some amount of attidude readjustment (and suggestion that maybe certain people shouldn't be seen in pok for awhile). during 3033, there were stories about him being in admin office running pok during first shift and being down on the line with the engineers second shift Was FORTRAN buggy 4331 And the bosses would much rather believe what they *want* to hear, rather than paying... other past posts mentioning "logical machine" effort: these activities (and a couple others that I was involved in) were going on concurrently to turning out my resource manager ... another one of the reasons previously mentioned about resource manager was something of a hobby ... as opposed to full time, dedicated effort: the other part of the late 80s was that some amount of dataprocessing was shifting out of the glbutt house ... and communication group had their barb wire around the glbutt house perimeter. recent refernce
