WHO writes the code that determines these differences? The code has to have a physical thingie to match its results with physical laws of Nature. You are still talking too high up the app chain. I'm trying to pull you down here to my thinking level ;-))).

FWIU, a human could stick a wire here to there and fix the problem. However, the wire insertion had to be "merged" into the manufacturing software that drove the component inserter. If you just inserted the instructions to string that wire, it would cause later insertions to break. (I'm making this up from the pictures in my head; I don't know the correct terms to use.)

But the hardware maker is a thingie that goes Whack-a-Mole on a board. Right? How does the simulator verify that the Whack-a-Moler doesn't get its prongs crossed?

Kewl. The birds are back. They all disappeared when Mbutt. overreacted and blanketed the state with mosquito spray. For the first time in 25 years, I saw dragonflies this summer. Then they sprayed and the dragonflies are all gone. We used call them sewing bugs and were scared and ran away whenever we saw one while we were playing in the ditch stream.
