This is why pagers and mobile phones can have email sent to them.

There are, of course, legitamate uses for such, though. I was working on a way to monitor the state of an application that was hanging. We (production support) didn't have a good handle on what was leading up to the deadlocks. I had what turned out to be a clever insight, but wasn't sure of that yet. I needed to be able to watch a bunch of things right at the start, and so had made the watchdog script page me. I left for an extended weekend, and neglected to turn it off. I had car troubles, and was on the phone to my boss, to tell him I was likely to be a day late getting back. My pager went off, and it was my watchdog. I had my boss tell my cow orkers what I wanted them to look at. He didn't tell them that I'd asked for it. I called one of the orkers up later that afternoon, to see if we saw what I thought. We didn't, but we did find enough clues to look elsewhere on the next occurance.
