What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 1995Eric Chomko You have the luxury of developing without a schedule? Purely a hobbyist writing your first "Hello, World!" program? Well, perhaps not, since you made the crack, "Nice if you have the luxury of time," so it sounds like you might have time pressures. If it's not a schedule, what causes that pressure? Ah, you are at the "Hello, World!" level. I've never met *anyone* who wrote anything non-trivial that compiled the first time. Sounds like you manage to, at least with little toy demos. If you do write non-trivial stuff that compiles and runs right the first time, you're a true rarity. You should sign your posts, "Wile E. Chompko, SuperGenius." If it's something I've no experience in and there's little help available, then I plan to fail once. And I plan to have unexpected problems with the second version that take longer than it seems they should to sort out. If it's something I'm well experienced in, then I don't plan to fail, but I do leave some leeway for unexpected events and requirements changes. I think that's pretty standard practice with most developers with any real-life experience. What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 1996 Bernd Felsche The thing is MS do have some real Engineers, and some very very good ones. The problem is that they don't actually seem to have... --Larry
