What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2024
I think I have a copy of 4.3reno source distribution someplace in the archives. we had been asked to do some consulting with this small client-server startup that wanted to do some payment transactions on the internet there were concerns about internet parbreastioning ... both simple technical failures ... as well as because of possible business issues; recent reference in the middle, the backbones decided to transition to a hierarchical routing policty (in part because of the mbuttive scaling issues). What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2025 I would tend to agree, but I'll summarize them for BAH, so she can make an informed choice. Under the hood there are... we were faced with putting together compensating procedures for the internet ... in an attempt to approximate industrial strength dataprocessing. around that time ... part of a major online services started crashing with resource exhaustion. numerous people looked at it for two months ... before we were asked about it. turns out it was one of the standard things that somewhat came out of the detailed vulnerability studies that was part of ha-cmp product work this was almost exactly a year before the big DOS-attack showed up in the press. even later i got invited to give a isi-usc graduate student seminar on why the internet wasn't industrial strength dataprocessing. in any case, one of our requirements was supporting multiple A-records. we got pushback from some of the people at this small client-server startup ... with comments that it was way too advanced programming (possibly because it wasn't taught in any college entry tcp-ip programming course?). I pulled out some 4.3reno client source to show that it had been around at least since 4.3reno. random past posts mention 4.3tahoe or 4.3reno random past posts mentioning multiple a-record support; --
