What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2083
Yes, nothing personal, more at the reverence of IBM in the industry by many.
Interesting metric to actually check out if possible.
MS Windows before 3.1 was a joke.
Yes, but even if it didn't at this point there tends not to be a point to continue on about it. :)
What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2084 Michael Wojcik Backus' claim is that allowing the definition of new higher-order functions ("functional forms") makes the language too powerful and uncontrolled. He... Agreed, but the shrinking posts to a.f.c don't seem to be my fault either.
A little fun while learning is better than learning with no fun. I tend to give what I get. But this group tends to be a tad stuffy if one is wrong about something or where others disagree. Heck, I like a lively debate, but if I can't b wrong and leanr from it, then why bother. The number of threads is declining so I guess I'll try and start a few that have some meaning.
APL as in the mathematical interpretive language? I have an old but good IBM PC version from about 20 years ago! Depends on the application. I lost an executable that was small but useful, though it tended to be somewhat verbose to run. I rewrote it the way I liked it and trimmed down the input method to my liking. I mean wrapping a script with a here-document around an executable to make it run more streamline works but is sort of a kludge, IMO. What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2085 That's not the same thing, and it is *a* saying, but Eric's free to promulgate a saying of his own, surely? Just because "nobody ever got fired..." is a (somewhat) popular phrase doesn't mean he's... Eric
