What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2097we use to go by and visit-checkup on project athena projects periodically, including kerberos. i have some memory of sitting thru a presentation & discussion of the (at the time very recent) cross-domain kerberos operation. What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2098 Precisely. That's what OEM's did. I earned quite a good living doing exactly that on a small scale. There was Intergraph, and Systime, and Olivetti, and... note that the original pkinit draft for kerberos specified simple certificateless, digital signature authentication ... w-o requiring x.509 idenbreasty certificates. it was later that somebody had the bright idea to add x.509 option to the kerberos pkinit draft standard (i've periodically gotten email from somebody apologizing for instigating that mistake). there are also, certificateless, digital signature authentication implementations for radius minor, somewhat historical reference ... i was actually somewhat involved in doing a radius configuration for a vendor's box (that had originated radius, before they got bought, and radius offered up as internet standard). trivia question ... what was the name of the vendor that originated radius? we got brought in to consult with a small client-server startup in menlo park that wanted to do payment transactions ... and they had this thing called https & ssl during that effort, we coined the term "certificate manufactoring" to differentiate that environment from x.509 idenbreasty certificates and PKI for some fun ... i've taken to periodically butterting that first payment gateway was the original SOA. some relatively recent posts mentioning x.509 idenbreasty certificates --
