What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2108

there was an article on such work within the past six months ... but I can't seem to find it now. quick search engine use doesn't find it ... although it turns up lots of articles on modeling driver and traffic behavior.

it sort of uses aggresive driving in lieu of my feral driver label ... although disregard for others can be somewhat related to undomesticated.

my observation wasn't on the behavior of the vast majority of the drivers ... but that takes only a couple drivers engaging in rapid lane changing to precipitate transition from heavy flow to stop&go.

part of it is having spent a large amount of time on dynamic resource management, congestion control, and graceful degradation ... complex systems that fail in this respect are also interesting.

when we were running high-speed backbone ... and not allowed to bid on nsfnet backbone (could be considered the operational transition to modern internet ... as opposed to technology). However, did talk nsf into audit of what we had running ... which resulted in the observation that what we had already running was at least five years ahead of all nsfnet bid submissions to build something new. however I had implemented some congestion control stuff ... that something similar will appear in internet2 (so there is some claim that it is going to be closer to 20 years than 5 years).
