Not quite. The combination also has to be compatible with the people you work with and what they use. This is not a simple problem. It becomes impossible if there is no backwards compatibility considered in systems hard-software.

I don't think I've ever encountered this kind of choice. Our errors told us where the problem happened. What we had to do was reconstruct a scenario that would cause the conditions that made the exception happen. Note that an exception was not necessarily an error. It could also be a feature that we didn't know about.

What DEC products are still being made? DEC has been sold stice over. HP owns Compaq who bought DEC. And buying DEC didn't save Compaq. I own...

It wasn't wasted; a possibility was eliminated.

There are still computer systems getting sold. There are still gazillions of new uses for these systems. I am still working on the atbreastudes of people, such as yourself, who buttume there isn't nothing more to computing that sticky GUI stuff. With intense CPU power available, the gentleman scientist is back working on his-her hobby.

I think this is the most exciting time of computing since Grace's era when the moth was taped in the log book.
