No, the problem is that Gordon Bell didn't know. The rest of the people in DEC knew. And, here, you are just plain...

What DEC products are still being made? DEC has been sold stice over. HP owns Compaq who bought DEC. And buying DEC didn't save Compaq.

I own a DEC laptop and a Compaq (friggin hard drive is dying) laptop. Are you saying that when HP makes a laptop they have more of DEC and Compaq engineering into those systems than their original HP?

You're c fool! I don't like little endian chips (see other thread). I hate Windows programming and prefer Unix, but NOT Linux for reasons already stated. That said, I have probably forgotten more buttembly languages than you know languages and one of them is PDP buttembler!

Cripes, the "reading comprehension" jibe is nearly as ubiquitous as claiming Godwin's Law. NO! Part...

Not trying to pee people off...

What is DEC selling for on Wall St.?

The workstation end the minicomputer. DEC has always been a minicomputer company. They never made the transistion from minicomputer to workstation in a manner to effect the market. SUn, OTOH, has been a leader in the WS market from day one.

Total crap! DEC was sold cheaply. Successful companies, when sold, become new divisions of the acquring company. A case can be made that Compaq buying DEC end Compaq! Where was the DEC division of Compaq? Where is the Compaq-DEC division of HP? Your bias towards DEC has you blind. I liked DEC too, but am not blind to the hard facts of business.

Eric
