What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2115No, the problem is that Gordon Bell didn't know. The rest of the people in DEC knew. What ever happened to Tandem and NonStop OS 2116 Okay, what was DEC at the time they were bought by Compaq? Yeah, I wasn't around whan Intel started and Motorola... And, here, you are just plain outright wrong. You have absolutely no idea how a CPU HW company does it's business. Why give away a cash cow?
Well, even Cutler fought that one...and lost. AT least, there is some justice in the world. You don't know how we did the computing biz. Your conclusions are completely wrong. You are using the wrong data to make those leaps of illogic. No. NT is VMS in Cutler clothing. Unix was around way before VMS. DEC had three flavors of Unix plus a few and were making money from them ....and this was in the 80s. You do not know DEC business. You are certainly off on a conspiracy theory lark. of You still don't know what you're talking about. Carly disbursed all DEC know-how off the earth. You do not outsource your core OS development work to India. This means that all knowledge of what not to do no longer exists within a coherent group. Carlybaby kept all the VPs that stripped DEC, then Compaq of the knowledge of how to make, test and distribute computing service products. Do you really think that these VP people and their staff stopped their working and thinking patterns just because they got a different logo on their calling cards? You need to also learn how people work. Sigh! I have. You ignore it. The BoD plans were to sell DEC no matter what kinds of profits or losses were going on. BAH
