I'm not worried about money; I'm worried about survival and being comfortable at the same time. I would like to have a fuel source that doesn't have to be supplied periodically and needs little maintenance and provides heat and electricity.

No kidding. Those are my last power guzzlers other than these computers I use which is my splurge in luxury.

One of the things I'm working on is acquiring new habits of diminishing consumption. I'm now to the point where it takes me 6 weeks to fill up a garbage bag; it used to be 1 week.

I don't 'wear once and wash' as the commercials insist you do. The exception is underwear and socks. I can do this because I don't work. I have reduced my electric usage to less than 200 Kw-month but am working on living habits to reduce this even further. I would dearly love to learn how to live without a refrigerator. My need for milk (forget about powdered) nixes this for the moment.

Nope. It took me a whole month to think of a spam proofing that would also serve as a gnat proofing. I got a very cold shower when I began to learn that there were a lot of people who had never heard of Roman numbers. They watch movies; didn't they ever wonder what those Ms, Cs, Is, Vs, and Xs were?

It had nothing to do with computers...consciously at least.

Oh, yea, another side effect (this one wasn't planned) is that people who could not figure it out, but asked about it, showed promise and deserved some attention.

However, my most favorite spam proofing is the guy whose tells us to "REMOVE-PANTS" for email. Lots of humor and just a little bit naughty.
