Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley are tribalists.. religion is peripheral. Problem I have with the creationists, is that they are literalists, while the vast bulk of educated Westerners have began to believe, if that is the word, that we just don't know. And we don't. What is in the Bible is the story that people at the time could relate to, in terms that they could understand. "On the first day?".. There was no sun or moon, so what sort of a day was that?.. In the big bang theory, there is the same sort of problem, where they postulate what happened in the first instant. What is an instant?.. What was outside the timeframe of matter to measure it?.. What caused it? (Thomas Aquinas had a theory). Anyway, I once read a history of sects in the early Christian Church, there were various factions in North Africa that had bitter disputes, and they continued to dispute after the Muslims arrived, and disputed until they disappeared.. People will argue about anything.. (Am I disputing now?) -- greymaus 97.025% of statistics are wrong
