Where should the type information be 142Until a critical number of people get the gear and are allowed to play with it to see what kinds of things it can be used for, we won't even know that. :-) This particular piece of the computing biz is going to follow the kinds of CPU-intensive jobs that the Crays used to do (one job running 3 months). It is just now that that kind of work can be done by Joe Schmoe when he's working on his hobby. When I started in the computer biz, physics types were just starting to use timesharing instead of their slide rules. They became delighted to be able to start a long calculations program and let it run while they go give the lecture to Physics 101 clbutt. This decade we're beginning to see people investigate their hypotheses that required a Cray time slot in the 1990s. My point is that the computing biz has to provide hard-software that can be played with by anybody. People haven't seemed to notice that this versatility has disappeared. It has been a goal to stamp all of that ability out of the software.
