Where should the type information be 330
I'm sure there's plenty of bodies, money, and inspiration for game development in general. But video games have a strong visual element, and that's still done mostly with hand-drawn or computer- buttisted animation. The top-selling video games have a strong cartoon element, in other words. Stuff like "Castle Wolfenstein" and its descendants, with relatively few texture tiles, are rare; fully- drawn environments and detailed characters and objects seem to be pretty much a necessity for success these days. And those are animation skills at heart. Some of it can be done with automatic CGI techniques, but AFAIK game development still requires an animation team. That's probably harder to staff in India right now than in Japan (which has a huge animation industry) or the US (which still has a pretty large one). Of course, in both countries outsourcing animation to Korea is common, and I suppose an Indian games-development company could do that. Where should the type information be 331 now -- had commercial games Sigh! I'm not knocking them. I am commenting on what kinds of production may not occur when all the OS development is based there. I know they have... -- Auden often writes like Disney. Like Disney, he knows the shape of beasts -- (& incidently he, too, might have a company of artists producing his lines) -- unlike Lawrence, he does not know what shapes or motivates these beasts. -- Dylan Thomas
