No, but it would help. The stream of atrocity stories coming out of the occupied territories (Few of which seem to be getting into the US media) is a contributing factor.

I presume you are referring to the Hama (sp?) mbuttacre back some years, when the Muslim Brotherhood tried to stage a coup against the buttads?. That was not the action of a government with fundem* sympathies.

Syria has a largish (for a Muslim country) Christian community, of great interest to anyone who wants to know what the early Church was really like, because they still worship in the same way as they did in the early years of the church. Actually, Saddam Hussein was fairly tolerant of Christians too, one priest reported that as long as people kept out of politics, he didn't bother them, in the old Muslim tradition. Most, if not all, the local Jews have left, probably to Syria's longterm loss.

Looking like Hilary is coming in. If the US can keep up the struggle to that time, there is hope.
