It's likely to be much the same as at present, except that the Governor-General will be the notional HOS instead of being the HOS's representative. The office bears little or no power or influence, and demands little formal respect. It's quite unlike Australia, where the GG has real political power. I was amazed recently, when I was is Sydney and attending a performance at the Opera House, that the audience was required to stand while the State Governor of NSW and his long line of hangers-on entered the auditorium. Here, you might notice the GG at the theatre, but only after you have wondered why a uniformed naval officer is sitting in the best seats, and realised that it was the GG's ADC.
