Sure. I was talking about magnitude of the mess. It was a lot bigger than what it had been calculated to be. This is from her book (which I haven't finished yet). I stopped in the middle to read Wilson's book.

Part of that was a planned decline to honor the UN mandate. Another part of that is they never seemed to have gotten out of the WWII price and labor controls. There was a book written by a lady who bought books from a English bookstore; this book was a collection of her correspondence with them. She sent them meat and eggs long after WWII was finished because Britain was still doling out food stamps for these items as if they still had to live in war conditions. Even though supply could have satisfied demand, the supply was artificially limited. I never understood this. Wilson was still working on a lot of those constraints. Even after the items were no longer on the stamp lists, the working parts of the economy were.

I don't even listen to the buts. I tend to pay more attention to the non-data, IOW waht they don't say.

Now I really have to study that. But this can't be new. Isn't something in protocol and statesmanship these may not be the correct words of foreign policies that compensate for this? The president certainly is not a king and never has complete control over anything. That's just not how a leader works.

I don't think I'll ever understand this stuff; it involves people.
