I didn't have any intention of implying that this is easy, cheap nor quick. However, any farmer knows that you can't get a crop by irrigating the fields one drip at a time. Price controls and rationing is allocating half-drips to your least productive fields. I don't understand people and why they can't see this glaring piece of obvious knowledge.

A fact that was recognized but not allowed to be corrected by the unions. The unions chose to destroy the country rather than upgrade facilities and become productive. Take a good look at the strikes Thatcher had.

Yes. Manufacturing the new was the ONLY choice they had. Britain had a choice. Their managment chose not to retool, upgrade nor cut out the dead wood.

Did I was it was? What do you think management was? It was the unions comglomerate plus politicians. Britain had very few independent businessmen. Those who did exist, had no incentive to get bigger. If they had, they would have been become owned by the government. As it was, most of their business decisions were hog-tied by unions and the government just with the day-to-day work, tax, and labor regulations.

If you can, try to do a traceback of the thinking.

Sigh! In case nobody has noticed, unions are another layer of bureaucratic management whose primary job is to hog-tie the other layer. Or haven't you noticed? TWA was destroyed because the unions decided they would destroy the company unless they got their way. Listen to any of the members who were on the union lines that's not the correct term at that time. I hear the same commentary today and it doesn't matter which union.

It was a pervasive thing. It was political, diplomatic, economic and cultutral at the same time. It was a dreary time for Britain...
