Yes, I saw the pictures of what Germany did to the Summer Palace in Leningrad which was completely senseless. My first comment was wondering what messes we (the US) had done. Now I've forgotten that city's name.

I guess I'm not understanding. You said that it would have been better if the Germans had destroyed it all before they left. That means that there were structures, etc. still there. I buttumed that people thought that "saving" what was left was more effective than starting with all new.

Sure. There is a sanity check in place. However, if you get a large population of middle clbutt, the tendency is to let "other people" deal with government, political, and social issues. They're too busy to notice the hints that something is going wrong. They only begin to pay attention when a mess is laying out on the floor and has to be cleaned up. They had relied on "The Government" to do the work I call mess prevention.

A society with a large middle clbutt lets people, who have nothing better to do, run the stuff of government. Within one generation, the middle clbutt has lost the knowledge of how to self-govern. They rely on other people to tell them how they should vote, think, and spend their money.

Nope. The collusions happen within each sector. Sectors don't usually combine unless these business properties are owned by one enbreastiy (usually government).

It's how people act. I've seen no exception. Why do think we yak about PHBs? It's a common phenomena when there are too many layers of middle management. There is a good reason why PHB has become an acronym.

Of course they are going to lose but that doesn't stop the people who are the union bosses. Each and every one will think that his time and his situation is different since he is right and he has control of the manpower spigot. You have seen middle managers fall for this self-delusion again and again. You have also seen politicians fall for this.

It's a cycle. Once upon a time, our Republican party was the darling of unions. Now it's the Democrats. I suspect it'll swing the other way over the next 50 years.

I'm talking about worker unions. You should read between the lines every time one of them goes on strike.

But this compebreastion doesn't matter to union bosses. Take a good look at the US garment industry. They have priced themselves out of the market.

Note that this is merely another of my hypotheses that I'm playing with in trying to understand how we get stupid. The people in Iraq know more about politics than all of the US population added together.
