And then the courts can go back and drop the law that made the strike illegal and ... well. There's no end to that.

There's sort of precedent from when all the Grand Duchy went on strike, not liking what His Imperial Highness the Czar of Russia and Grand Duke of Finland let the Russian bureaucrats do ... about a hundred years ago.

There's also people not buying products made in union shops and so on, which has admittedly gotten rare lately ...

It may help that we get enough foreign compebreastion to prevent such from having a lock on the prices.

Well, ours can, and regularly do.

We've also had stockholders demanding such resistance, with a majority vote too. (The rubber plant in Nokia had an year-long strike once, plenty of time for shareholder meetings there...)

And all kinds of other funny things.

Sort of asking for trouble if that happened during the Cold War, what with us having a long land border with Russia... and besides that's what got us our own civil war, too.

Point is, that sort of an escalation - from either side - would bring the govt along hard, really quick before anyone else manages to make an issue of it. Might not be quite as nervous in that regard, what with it not being the Soviet Union over the border any more, but...

There was plenty of difference in their economical policies, as stated. Which was the major difference actually, and it's the one that this so-called "political alignment" gets gauged by.
