I don't understand what you're saying the anti-Bush people are doing. What I hear from them is claims that the U.S.'s current foreign policy could be interpreted by Muslims as a war of religions, maybe even is being interpreted this way, and that this (Muslims interpreting it that way) is not a good thing. I don't hear them saying one way or another whether what the U.S. is doing *is* a war of religions, just talking about perceptions among Muslims. Do you hear something else, or do you think this claim is wrong-headed or dangerous in some way, or what?

Maybe a nitpick, but:

You keep saying the Koran is being rewritten, but I was under the impression that one of the tenets of Islamic belief is that the Koran doesn't retain its status as the central holy book in translation, and suggests to me that a literal rewriting (i.e., revision) is not going to happen. Would it be consistent with your meaning to say that it's being reinterpreted (rather than rewritten), or am I confused on this point (about rewriting)?
