I don't laugh. I've been living that kind of atbreastude all my life. My mother and her sisters were not allowed to go to high school because they were females. The only reason they went through to eighth grade was because of the law, not because it was thought that education of females was a good thing.

I don't know. I don't think any Muslim can say anything that is not against Israel. First things first. The moderates are just starting to publicize their moderate opinions. These mdoerates all over the world did not feel safe enough to do this just three years ago. I think that is a remarkable change.

Yup. That is a power issue and a mythillogical threat to manhood. If you look closer there are other power issues between the two. Males get real grumpy about their territorial imperatives.

They don't know how to work. For the longest time (centuries) these peoples didn't do the part of work that involves being the boss. The boss is the one who makes the decisions of what pieces of work has to be done, who does the work, who gets rewarded, who gets punished. I don't know how you teach that. The US has a tradition of self-reliance. In the beginnings most people didn't have a boss to go to who could order the parts or tell somebody else to fix it. If X broke, and X was needed to get today's work done, the person who was holding X when it broke fixed it. There was no question about whose job it was nor whose fault it was and, until those questions got answered, no work got done.

Sure. Like in our own countries, we use the constraits of law to limit their damages to short-term.

I heard the BBC blowing this "landmark" out of all proportion last night. They were more hysterical about this 100th then our US maniacs were about our 1000th. Take a good look at the perspective of the numbers 100 and 1000 and compare them to the promised millions of civilian rests that is in our future. These Western people are insane.

People have and it's been reported once, then never reported again. I find this facinating. There are other aspects that get reported once (noone can accuse the news media of bias) and then never told again. This is something to take note of. I use these as a trend indicator.

Look. Saddam violated the UN terms of cease fire. He was allowed to continue to get away with violating those terms. Iraq is in the middle of a political climate where the Islamic extremists were in power, gaining power, and stating a goal of eliminating Western culture. In addition, the existed a group whose funding, movements and manpower flows had no boundaries within the Middle East.

Right. It's not going to be a UN police action. The way Europe has undermined the current consortium that went into Iraq, Iran isn't going to believe that they have any spine other than to jump up and down and make useless noises. Iran watched carefully the last three years. I don't see them viewing Europe as anything to respect. Since the US has been the whipping boy, they're exploring and testing the possibility that the US has no moral authority left to convince the rest of the western world that another mess needs to be prevented.

CNN could agree to a better translator, too, but they don't in exchange for excluesive access. I think the only way I'm going to be able to make good guesses is to learn body language within that culture's context.
