I was basing what I wrote on an article on the Mennonites in, I think, Montana, that appeared in the good Ol' National Geographic. True : That will happen, its a part of any...

Given that Israel has far more qualified people to put into the field, and that at one point in that war they were losing people at a rate that was unsustainable, affairs were critical 1. Egypt and Syria, in particular, had mbuttes of peasants as cannonfodder, so could afford a slogging match as in 1917, but Israel needed the confidence to gamble on a breakthrough, which happened, but only because the US started a mbuttive airlift of supplies.. Great pity that the result, giving Israel a decisive victory, made a long-term resolution very difficult.

As for targets for an Israeli atomic strike, would it not be more likely that they would threaten Damascus, Bagdad, Cairo, and so on down along the line, rather than anywhere further away?.. What would have frightened the US is the not inconcievable (sp?) event that the USSR would have launched a pre-emphative strike against the US in that case?..

What I meant there is that Israel has very qualified people in the Army, both in Soldiering and in their civilian life, and the loss of such people would be very expensive to replace. I know thats a very cold way of looking at thing, but that is the way Generals make up their sums.
