area You aren't thinking long term consequences :-). I am talking outside the immediate disaster area. It only stays up if people show up to work. If there is a big mess, they will not because they are dead, ill, afraid, or haven't been told to show up. Sadly, yes. When I was a teenager the excuses used was racial discrimination, the Nam War, and antidisestablishmentarism. Since then, even a jury aquittal will excuse people to trash their town. The LA riots in the 90s were described as race riots. They were not. If you turned the sound off and watched, these weren't race riots. And now these disturbances are being used as a cover for gangs to get weapons and ammunition. Religious fanatics was: XBOX 360 wrote, in part: Actually, plenty of people in the Islamic countries *do* see how idiotic they are. But they're afraid, or unable, to speak out. Pat Robertson certainly has said... Sure. But that is .00000000001% (or less) of the population. No, sir. The minute. The last thing that should happen is people reacting chemically and emotionally to a threat and having nothing to do. They simply stew in their adrenalin; hardware says gotta do something. If they don't have an buttignment, all will riot. Exactly. Now take a look at what happened with the hurricane. That is common, basic stuff. We get hit with hurricanes every year. Yet that city, not only did not deal with it, they actively did everything to make it worse. Believe me, New Orleaners have not cornered the market on stupidity. Now think about that one. Where do you get horses to breed or, even more important, where do you get the knowledge of how to breed them and train them and maintain them. Around here, all of that is gone with the exception of the 4H. I haven't seen a 4H poster in donkey's years. There is a state fair and that's about it. Our local school system has never written the words 4H on any of their lists. There never any 4H meetings cancelled when we have a nor'easter. About the only thing left is Boy Scouts but I don't see much practical getting done by those kids. Most of it is city-slicker stuff.
Yup. I've also bought an abacus, an astrolabe and other stuff like that. Nope. There's been a lot of down-sizing. Any government stores would not be here. Property is too high to resist wasting it on useless storage facilities. This still doesn't help those first three weeks or so. Bush gave a speech last month asking for people to stock for two-three weeks. Complete mockery and utter disbelief was the reaction; and just to prove that Bush is a liar, these people are refusing to do this little bit. That is why I talk about the anti-bush people.
XBOX 360 2706 In the long term, the infrastructure will have to be rethought anyway. But in the short and medium term, where else would they go? Be stuck in the traffic? We don't have... It's in the south and midwest but not in the east. Bush is being strongly pressured by Democrats to use it up. This is another indication that they are insane. XBOX 360 2710 The dumbing-down of populations, especially via excessive specialisation, means that even if the population is self-motivated to do something, they don't have a clue how to do it. Things have to be re... I talk about the effects of the atbreastudes of the current politicians. But I am not talking politics in the sense that I am supporting Bush in everything. I am not talking about advoactions. I am trying to talk about practical matters that more than 50% of our political leaders are not dealing with, but, worse yet, they are working to make sure the practical work never gets done. XBOX 360 2709 You are a great lady. Remember Jerry Ford? I'm not a Republican, but I really liked the man. Why? Because he would come out on the White... YES!!! It's very real. I'm seeing this kind of thinking every day. It has become a badge of belonging to think like this (they are the anti-Bush). Again, I am not talking politics.
But who is going to feed me? Doing research and testing takes time. There is a reason that Europe exploded with the Industrial Revolution. There was enough people with power and money to fund all of this. When you have to shoot dinner every day, you don't have time nor physical resources to improve the electic grid, find what broke and fix it. What broke could be in Rochester. Nobody in Boston is going to fix it; absolutely nobody in Boston have the skills to fix Rochesters' infrastructure. Territorial imperative will kick in big time and override any distraction from protecting the women and kids, defending the land, and hunting. The only way our hardware will allow cooperation with another city hundreds of miles away is if we and they can talk to each other, have contracts, exchange information, IOW, trade.
Exactly. Exactly. EXACTLY!!!!!!! You have absolutely no idea how glad I am that this old stuff is stored on mirror images. And how delighted I am that there are people in sparse geographical areas, working on "hobbies" that can make this gear without requiring an Intel-only output. WE don't have the organization. We have something we called Civil Defense of Democrats have been moving those funds to welfare and other bread and circuses. Our Civil Defense system did not kick in when 9-11 happened. There were no sirens, no emergency broadcast announcements, etc. Everybody but the New York police and firefighters sat around with their thumbs up their butt. I was expecting an atom plant to hit in the midwest, among other things. Locally, the Civil Defense sounds are getting used for that f***ing Amber-alert now. If we ever have a disaster everyone is going to ignore the single sound alert that used to be used exclusively for national security alerts. I am, too. Think about it :-). Right. Entrenched royalty tend to not want to lose power and luxuries. Religious fanatics was: XBOX 360 Distribution: world wrote, in part: Actually, plenty of people in the Islamic countries *do* see how idiotic they are. But... Not all deserves are rewards nor punishments. Ok. Oh, understood. XBOX 360 2707 Of course. Right. I think that's why you made the comment below. In this country, only those who are absolutely required show... That is betting that the mess will happen in the spring and early summer. The last thing I've ever put into my scenarios of survival is the accident that the mess happens at exactly the right time. I never include good luck in my scenarios; I always include bad luck at the worst time in them. BAH
