I agree is doesn't matter how it's scrubbed. I'm having problems figuring out how one can verify that the 1000 randomly set bits in the memory page (I'm looking at) is really random and doesn't contain a tad of data because the scrubber has a bug. No human being can do this without taking tons of time. With todays obscene memory space, I would dare to state that it would be impossible to declare an address space scrubbed. However, if the scrubbing is to revert to zero, a single glance at the display would identify a problem. I'm talking about a microsecond's worth of eyeballing. One can even automate this eyeballing. But it can't be done with randomly set bits or even a 00xDEADBEAT unless the display is listed. Even then a human eye can miss a bit if the display is scrolling fast. One have to f***around with the timing so the eyeball only had to stare at one corner of the TTY screen. scrubbing

The tradition is from C, but it's pretty widely used other places as well. Another convention...

The same scrubbing? Or does the bit pattern vary?

On a Windoze box, you're being F-ed when the power indicator is lit. We can't have that now, could we? Tell me about it. I just bought my wife a brand-new...

failed Good grief. If the technique available for this kind of failure is a complex bit pattern, the biz has really gone downhill. TOPS-10's attbreastude is always zero...

Yea, I can see that. I'll have to think about this one.

Query: Did bit sprayers ever spray zero? I've been buttuming that this was a 1 that got sprayed.

One would hope. However, we do not have sane programming getting shipped as production code out there. There is one enbreasty whose business plan makes this a non-goal.

Yea, but I'm worried that it's been too good. I keep encountering people who only think from the app point of view and have no concept of a kernal point of view. The reason Micpoo has that name is precisely because those people have this mistake. It has become their folklore.

Will you forgive me if I buttume that this solution could be a piece of knowledge that is getting lost?
