CBFalconer Things *are* much worse than Gitmo. There are folks in jail in the U.S. based on authority of the "Patriot" Act...that still have *not* been charged after many months.

Also, there is a plane that one of the agencies (CIA or somebody) is using to kidnap foreign nationals (one was taken from Switzerland, but I believe he was a German national) and flown to countries that regularly use torture as a means of interrogation. One such country is Uzebekistan.

I remember a quote supposedly from the little Austrian man with the mustache:

ISTM the reason that we do *not* give our rulers these powers...the powers used by dictators...is that the powers *will* eventually be abused, if the powers indeed have *not* already been abused.

Let me go on record that neither I support...nor do I believe that Mr. Falconer supports...the radical Islamic extremists and certainly *not* the Nazis or the Communists. What is supported...is for the U.S. to live up to its democratic ideals of freedom and justice.
