During the war, Gen. Groves knew he had a good percentage of Communists in his staff, but he...

Yes. The politics dictated the laws of physics. The people who knew better had to spend a lot of their thinking time figuring out how to hide their thinking and results and not get end.

I have several computer books from Russia that I rescued at the dump (some idiot threw away the others that I had left becuase he figured nobody would want them since they were in a furrin language). I cannot read Russian but one of these books is a lanugage that is a curious mix of FORTRAN, COBOL and something else I can't quite my finger on. I think I also have a machine lanugage book but this one is harder to figure out without reading the text.

It does with some people here. I can tell; I more experienced than you are figuring this out :-). That's just how they are; I have no intention of trying to change them; it just means that I have to do more work to discuss stuff with these types.

Of course.

Oppenheimer's brother also lost his job and took up cattle ranching, but von Neumann, Metropolis, Fermi, Feynman, Bethe, Bradbury, Segre, Einstein, Bohr, Kistiakowsky, Wilson, Bacher, Manley...

This is all about people. If you don't take humanness into account, nothing will work and all designs are moot.

Heh, joke detection meter needle wiggles. :-)

Swearing is a great stress reliever.
