I can't tell you. I'd have to "see" the whole file. Diags were a real PITA to edit because each code page was almost identical except for the entry point routine name and, maybe, one variable. This is when not having the whole file in core is useful. Having serious editing mistakes. Each editing job required a different strategy and technique. TECO was the only editor that allowed me to do it all. BUT THAT'S WHAT EDITING IS ALL ABOUT!!!!!! IT'S ALL ABOUT DOING THE CHANGES IN THE CORRECT PLACE!!!! emoticon jumping up and down while trying to portray what editing is. If an editor makes it difficult or wordy to get to the correct position, the edit is taking too long and you're wasting your time. I didn't like screen editors (until RDH did his video TECO) because it took too damned long to display the screen. -2T2T$$ was usually enough for me to check my position within the file. hmmm..Now that I'm thinking about it, not many could do that.
OH, good grief shuddering emoticon here If you retype the line, you have just removed all past proofreading efforts. That is a 100% waste of time. You can do a similar thing with TECO (see FS command) but I didn't favor it. No. My last editing session was using TECO. I don't count what I do on these PC machines I have. creat 1194 alt.folklore.computers Plus the time it's Xoff-ed, at 9600 the VT100 needs flow control. Max data rate without flow control in glbutt tty mode is 4800. Fancy stuff, eg... BAH creat 1193 Interesting. Okay. It seems to me that with a screen-oriented editor you could still be sort of paging through the file, and... creat 1195 At the time I had it long, there may not have been loveual reclbuttifications, but there were certainly social ramifications. And... Subtract a hundred and four for e-mail.
