In today's dumbed-down world, most users never reach the wall. Jobs of that complexity are left to the pros, of which there are two types: the ones who learn command-line tools and quietly get the job done, and those who put on their mountaineering gear and climb that nearly-vertical GUI curve, while loudly proclaiming their progress to all and sundry (usually in the form of the certifications that they collect). These ostentatious paper collectors are favoured by PHBs, who consider them kindred spirits. They are also the darlings of vendors (hardware, software, and courseware) because they generate a steady stream of sales.
